The Elderhostel programs
here at MSC are designed to offer adults 55 and older
academic experiences in coastal ecology and the natural
history of Virginia's Eastern Shore. Courses are offered
during the spring, summer and fall seasons. We utilize
two separate location sites. The first site is the
Wallops Island Marine Science Center. Activities at the
Center are field oriented and very hands-on. Housing
here consists of townhouse style apartments with two or
three double occupancy bedrooms and a shared bath. All
meals are served at the Center cafeteria. Our second
site is located on
Chincoteague Island near the
Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge.
Elderhostelers will be housed at the
Comfort Suites, which provides air conditioned
double occupancy accommodations. While staying on
Chincoteague Island hostelers enjoy local and seafood
cuisine at Maria's Restaurant.
