Photos from Previous Years
We will be birding during
the migratory season when millions of birds along the Atlantic Flyway
"funnel" through this small area. More than 400 species have been
recorded. Examine geological and environmental factors that influence
birds and their habitats. Discover the birds and explore the natural
history of Assateague, Chincoteague, and Wallops Islands. Learn
identification methods using field markings, vocalizations, and behavior
patterns. Other highlights include Chincoteague National Wildlife
Refuge, a study cruise aboard a research vessel, and an interpretive
walk on dunes and beaches. We'll also explore a state park and visit the
NASA Space Flight Center on Wallops Island.
